Portol, Spain. 27th June, 2025. A Siurell stands in the 'Siurells Ca n'Antonia' workshop of artisan Antonia Amengual on Mallorca. The siurells are made of clay painted in bright colors such as red, green and blue on a white background and contain a pipe that produces a high-pitched sound. They usually depict animal figures, people or mythological figures. The origin of the siurell is a mystery, they are considered to be one of the oldest crafts in Mallorca and could be related to toys or amulets from ancient Mediterranean cultures.
