The Uffizi Museum was founded in 1581 by the will of Cosimo de' Medici, Duke of Florence, a patron of the arts. It is one of the most famous museums in the world. It houses works by Cimabue, Caravaggio, Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raffaello, Mantegna, Tiziano, Parmigianino, Dürer, Rubens, Rembrandt, Canaletto. It has an unparalleled collection of paintings by Sandro Botticelli.
