Straupitz, Germany. 20th May, 2024. Bärbel Scherbatzki from the Straupitz tourist office welcomes visitors in front of the Dutch windmill, dressed in the traditional costume of a miller. The mill - like hundreds of other mills - has invited visitors on this day for German Mill Day. The Dutch windmill in Straupitz is the last functioning triple windmill in Europe. A grain mill, an oil mill and a sawmill are in operation here. The origins of Mill Day lie in the Lower Saxony Mill Days, which were celebrated back in 1990.
