A Martin B-26 Marauder, an American twin-engined medium bomber it saw extensive service during World War Two. First used in the Pacific Theatre and in the Mediterranean Theatre and in Western Europe, by the end of the war it had been used in combat by British, Free French and South African forces in addition to US units flying more than 110,000 sorties. Initially, early models had a high accident rate during takeoffs and landings. However after aerodynamic modifications it ended World War II with the lowest loss rate of any U.S. Army Air Forces bomber.
