January 24, 2022, Long Beach, California, USA: The decommissioned United States Navy supercarrier USS Kitty Hawk makes a stop as it sits anchor off of Long Beach harbor. The ship left Washington state on Jan 15th and is en-route to a Texas shipbreaker to be turned into scrap. The U.S. Navy's last oil-fired aircraft carrier, she was decommissioned in 2009, after serving for 48 years. She was reportedly sold to the Texas ship-breaking company for a cent, and will have to go on a 130 day trip all the way down to the tip of South America and back up because she is too big to pass through the Panam
