WASHINGTON DC — Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Vega 5B aircraft display showcases the record-breaking modifications made to this pioneering aviation aircraft, including upgraded 450-horsepower Wasp engine, enhanced navigation systems with drift indicator and gyroscope, and additional fuel tanks installed in the wings and passenger compartment. Earhart used this aircraft for several of her historic flights, including her 1932 solo transatlantic flight that made her the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
