Bentley Bridge, Wolverhampton 4th January 2026 - A huge multi-agency emergency response was deployed to a canal in Wolverhampton after reports a person had fallen through the ice. Two fire engines were sent along with specialist firefighters from the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team, part of the fire Technical Rescue unit. Firefighters used poles to break the ice and then a special camera with light on the end of the pole to see underwater as other crew members looked from a screen on the towpath near the Nickelodeon pub.
