Diatrype verruciformis is a species of ascomycete fungus commonly found on dead wood. Reverend Richard Cresswell (1815–1882) was an English clergyman and natural history collector who assembled over 450 fungal drawings and photographs. The archival image records a watercolour, pen and ink drawing on paper dated 1847, later identified in ink by Miss Aviolet and stamped CRESSWELL COLLECTION.
