Worthington George Smith (1835–1917) was a British mycologist and illustrator. Agaricus (Tricholoma) patulus, dated October 1870 and printed as plate 279, was prepared as a preliminary illustration for Illustrations of British Fungi (Hymenomycetes), an atlas to Mordecai Cubitt Cooke’s Handbook of British Fungi. The archival image records a print on paper depicting the fungus collected in Surrey.
