It featured a triple-seal system to preserve a vacuum similar to that of the moon, ensuring sample protection during the return flight. This particular ALSRC, used during Apollo 12, contained two Teflon bags holding lunar rocks and fine-grained material, which were retrieved by astronauts and safely stored for scientific analysis.
