Stele of Democracy. Marble slab found in the Agora of Athens, dated 336-337 BC. It symbolises the triumph of democracy over tyranny. At the top, a bas-relief personifies democracy. A seated man with a bare torso (Demos) is crowned with a garland by a standing woman (Democracy). The lower section features the inscription of the Eucrates' Decree (336 BC), enacted against tyranny.
