Mexico City, Mexico; March 8, 2026 - The so-called Black Women's Bloc attempts to set fire to the steel wall protecting the National Palace and the Cathedral. Thousands of women filled the streets of Mexico City on International Women's Day, mourning the recent femicides in Morelos, the State of Mexico, and Sinaloa. The color purple permeated the Zócalo (main square) due to the clothing and smoke used by the thousands of demonstrators. The day proceeded peacefully, with the exception of a few minor altercations and a fire set to some metal barriers, which did not escalate further. Photo: Juan
