Otto Lilienthal (1848–1896) was a German aviation pioneer who conducted experimental glider flights that contributed to the development of heavier-than-air aviation. In the spring of 1893 he performed flight tests at the Maihöhe near Steglitz, Berlin, launching from a small flying shed. The archival image records a historical photographic print showing Lilienthal during a glider launch from the Maihöhe site.
