Abingdon's medieval stone bridge at sunrise. Abingdon claims to be the oldest town in England. This is its famous medieval stone bridge, on a fine winter morning. The Bridge was begun in 1416 and completed in 1422, using local limestone. It was funded by Abingdon's religious guild, the Fraternity of the Holy Cross.
