Sino-British Polo Friendship statues that were gifted to Great Britain as part of the 2012 Summer Olympics have been damaged beyond economic repair after being stored in an open-air storage compound in an industrial estate for many years. The four statues were created by Chinese artist Huang Jian (Olympic Art Ambassador) as one of a series of special commissions to mark the Games. The bronze statues have been seriously damaged after being removed from public display many years ago and are not expected to ever return to being on display - a sad loss of cultural heritage.
