Chorleywood, UK. 25 May 2026. UK Weather – A n aerial view of the crystal clear water of the River Chess as the temperature rises to 35C, the hottest ever day in May. The forecast is for the heatwave to lessen with potential rain next week. Being a chalk stream, it has particular significance for wildlife and the natural environment but in the past, further upstream, raw sewage from the Chesham treatment plant has spilled over into the River Chess causing a risk to humans and animals coming into contact with the water.
