An Austrian Hartschier Life Guard small-sword, circa 1560/70 Strong single-edged blade with double-edged point. Narrow fourfold fullers on both sides, the base with struck smith's mark. S-shaped, curved cross-guard with finger rests and pas d´ane on the obverse side, on the reverse side three bars with thumb ring. Leather-covered grip (replaced). Sturdy ball pommel. Length 130 cm. Swords of this type are generally ascribed to the Hartschier Life Guard of the Austrian imperial family. Several identical exemplars are part of the Ambras Castle Coll, Additional-Rights-Clearance-Info-Not-Available
