19 March 2026, Brandenburg, Dürrenhofe: Employees of the Unterspreewald agricultural cooperative lay film on rows of asparagus (aerial photo taken with a drone). The harvest of the royal vegetable, asparagus, could begin in a few days. A term already chosen by Johann Wolfgang Goethe: "Asparagus is truly the king of all vegetables". If the mild early weather continues, the first asparagus spears can be harvested in just a few days. The company, on the edge of the Spreewald, grows asparagus on around 35 hectares.
