A celebrated landscape painter in Dordrecht, Aelbert Cuyp found his subjects in and around his native environment, as well as elsewhere in the Netherlands, along the Rhine and the Meuse and around Cleve. Bowl with acorn bosses at shoulder, lotus pattern beneath, and rosette on bottom, and with inscribed weight. Dimensions: H. 8.5 x Diam. 13.6 cm at mouth 15 for body (3 3/8 x 5 3/8 and 5 7/8 in). Date: 4th century B.C..  The heavy silver vessels 18.2.13-18.2.17 are in created in a decorative style widespread in the Greek world, and can be dated to the fourth century BC. They are said to have been found together in the Egyptian Delta.
