Cœnotaphiorum (20) 1563 Hans Vredeman de Vries Netherlandish Funerary monument consisting of a simple tomb with the effigy of a sleeping clergyman in a chasuble on top. The tomb is placed in the corner of a room with one oval and four rectangular windows. Below the image a Latin inscription has been placed, consisting of six lines divided over two columns.. Painted Dado Panels 9th century This dado panel was excavated from a room in the Tepe Madrasa area of Nishapur that once had a lively scheme of painted decoration. The upper section of the wall was colored a deep red, followed by a short horizontal frieze of hexagons and diamonds underneath, and then this four-foot high dado with a frieze of alternating square and rectangular panels. Each panel in the dado was framed with blue, red, and white lines; the rectangular panels were filled with a pattern akin to quartersawn marble, and the square panels had a variety of feathery shapes, scale-covere-stock-foto

Cœnotaphiorum (16) 1563 Hans Vredeman de Vries Netherlandish Freestanding funerary monument for a man and a woman in an interior. The effigies of a sleeping man and woman have been placed on top of the rectangular tomb. The tomb is crowned by a baldachin with hourglasses on the four corners. The lower end of the tomb is characterized by a harnassed figure carrying two blank coats of arms. On the left side of the print an archway is visible which provides a view of the outside. Over-lifesize bearded head wearing a conical helmet late 7th or early 6th century B.C. Cypriot The beard assumes a roughly rectangular shape. It is composed of four smooth strands separated by incised lines and rounded off at the bottom. The lips show a faint smile. The short wide nose and the stiff mouth have been partially restored in plaster. The eyeballs, that which protrude more at the top than below, are in the shape of half-moons; the arch of the eyebrows follows that of the upper eyelids.
