The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Abbot (DD-629) leaves the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Pennsylvania (USA), on 6 November 1951, following modernization. Her main battery of 5-inch dual-purpose guns has been cut from five to four, and modern twin 3-inch mounts have replaced the quadruple and twin 40-millimeter guns. Three of these mounts can be seen: two amidships and one atop the after deckhouse. Also note tripod foremast and covered 'hedgehogs' aft of Mount 52.-stock-foto

East Mosley, UK. 30th June, 2025. A Pocket Planting Garden, Silver Gilt Medal Winner, Welcoming Wildlife Designed by Henry T Pope at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2025. Welcoming Wildlife offers a new perspective on how we define the edges of our gardens – not as barriers, but as thresholds for nature to move freely. At the heart of this concept is a curved line of hazel stakes, creating a loose, natural delineation between spaces. Rather than rigid boundaries, this garden embraces softness and openness, encouraging the movement of wildlife – especially hedgehogs – between garde-stock-foto
