Wendover Dean, Buckinghamshire, UK. 23rd April, 2026. Construction work is continuing on top deck concrete pours on the HS2 High Speed Rail Wendover Dean Viaduct in Buckinghamshire. The HS2 Wendover Dean viaduct is 450 metres long and up to 17 metres high. The viaduct deck weighs 3,700-tonnes and was "slid into place using special pads covered in Teflon to minimise friction between the deck and the temporary steel bearings on top of each of the concrete piers". The former farmhouse and outbuildings at Durham Farm were demolished to enable the construction. Credit: Maureen McLean/Alamy Live New-stock-foto
