Senait And Nahom Coptic Cross Light Towers Washington DC USA // WASHINGTON D.C., United States — Several illuminated, mirrored towers featuring laser-cut Coptic cross patterns stand on a blue floor within a darkened gallery space. Created in 2019 by Ethiopian American artist Tsedaye Makonnen, the installation, titled "Senait & Nahom," is constructed from acrylic mirrors, LED lights, and hardboard. The towering structures draw architectural inspiration from the monumental steles of the ancient Christian kingdom of Aksum to memorialize 54 Black individuals who lost their lives to systemic violen-stock-foto

Cockpit Studios, Deptford, London, UK. 29th Apr 2026. London Craft Week preview: Artists prepare work in their studios at Cockpit in Deptford. Pictured: Eleanor Lakelin, who creates highly textured, vessel-like wooden sculptures in a range of sizes, including monumental. Working primarily with UK-grown trees felled due to decay, she transforms each piece through a combination of turning on the lathe and hand carving. The pieces have smooth, architectural structures that are disrupted by expressive, weathered surfaces. Credit: Matthew Chattle/Alamy Live News-stock-foto
