Juan de Grijalva (born 1490, died January 21, 1527) was a Spanish explorer. On June 19, 1518, he became the first European to set foot on Aztec territory. The Spaniard explored unknown regions on behalf of his uncle, Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar, the governor of Cuba.
