Lincoln Memorial Greek Revival Reflecting Pool Washington DC USA // WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Lincoln Memorial and Reflecting Pool are pictured from the Washington Monument on the National Mall, Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026. Architect Henry Bacon designed the monument in the Greek Revival style, modeling it after a classical temple to evoke the democratic ideals of ancient Athens. The structure's 36 exterior Doric columns represent the states in the Union at the time of Lincoln's death, while the building itself is constructed of Indiana limestone and Colorado Yule marble.
